So, I think it’s official. I have decided that every time I travel out of town, I must visit at least ONE Local Yarn Shop (LYS), take some pictures, buy some stuff and come home and blog about it. It just feels like the right thing to do as a knitter (wow, I’m calling myself a knitter!) and also, it is also soooo much fun.

This time, my travel brings me to Gail Knits, a nice little shop somewhere out in the dessert. No, I’m just kidding, I don’t think it was even close to a desert, but it did take me an awfully long time to get there in the middle of Las Vegas rush hour. Plus, all I had to do was to listen to this very sexy Australian guy telling me which way to turn and how to get there.

No!!! I didn’t find an Australian boyfriend, it was just my very very useful GPS system. I’m such a dork! (ps: I picked the voice and the accent – his name was Lee from Australia!)

But anyways, I just notice from this picture, that either Gail (the owner) secretly runs a kick boxing studio in the back, or the word kick boxing was from an old sign. However, her shop sure did not smell like sweaty jockstraps and boxing gloves! (there I go again, another poor attempt to crack a joke!)

And how lucky, I happened to stop in during knit night…….

Talk about a fun and boisterous bunch!!! The store opened till 9 pm, everyone was knitting something cool, every one had something funny to talk about and they were all making fun of an Asian guy saying the word “ya’ll”!! Ya’ll, that was fun! Meeting the locals, in this case, the “normal” people of Las Vegas that do not live on the Strip and just interact with them, see how they are and how they live. Very interesting.

And like any other place, it’s always good to support the LYS’s in the area and buy a little something. I know, I know, I said no stash, but it’s just the experience of buying “imported” yarn, imported from another state!

But I want you all to look at this fabulous find, I don’t even know what brand it is, I need to do some research, but look at the heathers close up. Isn’t it gorgeous!?!?! Hmmm….. with the yardage, the thing that immediately comes to my mind is the Melon Scarf from Victorian Lace Today. But we shall see.

Well, that’s about it, my little episode of this boy’s adventure to Las Vegas, Nevada!

Hey guys, thank you all for the nice words on my seaming. I guess we are all harsh critics of our own work. Enough about the seaming and let’s talk about my new adventure this weekend.

But before that, I have to tell you all that I fell deathly ill AGAIN this past Sunday. Houston had a sudden temperature drop and I decided it would be nice to go to sleep with the windows opened. Well, guess what? I woke up with a fever.

The fever went on and on and wouldn’t break regardless of the amount of Tylenol I took. I swear I took so much Tylenol that I would rattle when I walk!

Anyways, on Wednesday, I woke with a 103 F temperature and decided that it was time to see the doctor, but my doctor wasn’t available and had to get somewhat better for my adventure! So, he told me to go to the minor ER and that’s what I did. So, guess what? In addition to catching a cold, I caught strep throat too!! They gave me a penicillin shot in my ass and something stronger to break the fever. Well, the fever is receding and now I have a sore ass.

Well, enough about my drama.

But back to my adventure. Here is where I’m going:

Yep, LAS VEGAS!!!!! The City of Sin. Yikes, this place is full of vices that I’m almost afraid to go. But I’m going for work for an entire week. So, I plan to do some sight seeing, shows, meetings, yoga and of course, maybe some yarn shops. However, I doubt that Las Vegas would be very much into knitting. Any of my readers from Vegas?

Anyways, I will update more on my projects. Ironwork is growing….. rather slowly, but it is looking quite nice.

Talk to you all later.
