Endo or Perio

by Kenny on March 9, 2010

I wish these were kitting terms, cuz I probably would be so much more familiar with them.  No, this is not the Endo Stitch or the Perio Steek, they are dentistry terms.

Any dentists out there?

What is your prognosis on this.  Take a look:

x-ray

If you know, I’ll switch dentist to you immediately!

The fact is, they don’t know if I should go to a Endodontist or a Periodontist.  All the know is that there is an huge abscess and it hurts like shit.

So, this morning, went to dentist, got sent to the Endodontist, then got sent back to the dentist, and now, in a little bit, going to see a Periodontist.  GAWD!  Work on it already.

But in all fairness, this is “apparently” an unusual case.  Won’t know what the hell the problem is until they open it up.

To me, the x-ray  just looks like I have fucked up teeth.  Uggh.  Wish me all the luck, cuz I hate pain!

Knit me a new tooth!

Dang! I don’t know anything about dentistry but that doesn’t look like something you want to have. I used to pass out at the dentist, so I wouldn’t be of any help, but I have a wonderful dentist now. Love this guy. He is gentle and kind and knows what he’s doing. You’d have to move to Colorado. Hope you get better soon.

You already have a root canal in that tooth, it seems like the bone loss is on the side area that is the periodontal ligament area which tends to be a perio abscess. I am a RDH in So. Calif. Pain from the ligament happens even if you had a root canal because the ligament has it’s own nerve supply. I wish I was closer to you so you could come to one of my DDS’s. Try to save your tooth, an implant or bridge is $$$$ and you need that space occupied by some kind of tooth.

If the middle and left tooth in the x-ray aren’t cold/heat sensitive, I agree with the above comment by Syl. I hope they have you on antibiotics NOW to clear up the abcess. It’s more dificcult to ‘fix’ anything when there’s a raging infection going on. I wish I could send you some Jewish Penicillin (chicken soup). Feel better soon sweetie!

Sorry to hear and see that Kenny. Keep an open mouth and anything can happen.

I’m sorry! I had all four wisdom teeth taken out and it was wonderful. I was put under general anesthesia, they were extracted, I woke-up and that was it. I hope things go smoothly for you once you find the right kind of dentist. A good doctor is hard to find. I rarely go to the same one twice. In fact, I rarely find one that talks to me for more than three minutes.
