Oy Vey! I just got home from work today. Nevermind today, but let’s rewind a little. I attended the Men’s Spring Knitting Retreat 2009 over the weekend and didn’t get back into Houston till about midnight on Monday and had to work early Tuesday. Well, I just got home from work, pooped, but at the same time, I can’t wait to blog all about this weekend.
Like my post from last year…… I’m again lost for words. But here are some of the highlights of the event.
- I got to see my boys from California + Chuck again!!! I was so deathly ill during the Men’s Fall Knitting Retreat 2009 that I couldn’t bond as much with these guys as I wanted too, but being all well and healthy this time around, I’m so glad to have a chance to meet Kyle, John, Stephen and Chuck again.
- I got to meet pretty much everyone from last year again! My non-Cali boys! East Coast boys + Bob, Jeff and Joe from Florida.
- I got to see the president and the vice president again. Love you Joe and Ted!! xoxo
- I finally met Nanna Peter! The guy that flew in the furthest, from the Down Under. You were such a treat and I totally enjoyed your class.
- Good Easton Mountain living.
- Refreshing conversations with everyone. Picked up just right where we left off last year. It’s amazing. Plus new conversations with new people that I met this year.
- And most of all, I got to knit with my PEERS. MEN!!! No talk about divorce, pregnancy, child support, panties, periods or whatever women talk about. Not that it’s a bad thing, but it was just nice to be and knit with men.
I will leave you all with some pictures. It won’t be all of them, but you’ll get the idea. For more pictures, go to the Men’s Knitting Retreat Flickr page.

could that photo of me by myself be any more frightening? eek!
I love your post – it’s true – the moment we all get together, it feels as if the time between retreats was moments – but while we’re apart, it feels like eternity before the next retreat… the time we spend together is special – and means so much to me – and while I had a difficult time sharing what exactly it is that makes these retreats amazing, you put it into great perspective. Just being able to knit with guys – who understand and accept us for who we are (creative, loving, sensitive fiber guys) – makes all the difference.
Thank you Kenny for a great post and for making the trip to MSKR09- it was wonderful to see you again (and healthy!)
xoxo
How did your yoga class go??
Looks like you all had a great time!!
So what did you all talk about? Erectile Dysfunction, jock straps and whether boxers or briefs are better??? LOL!!
That picture of Petey in his jimmie jams is precious! Stealing it!
The Easton Mountain Retreats make me wish I was a dude. Seriously jealous. Looks like a blast!:)
I’m so glad you were there Kenny! Can’t wait until September!! Come visit me in St. Louis!
As a long-time lurker, I have to chuckle at Cheryl’s comment. As a tom-boy ‘chick with a (figurative) dick’, I think I would be more interested in the topics discussed by all of the guys there. I generally think much more like a guy than a girl; always have and probably always will. Just ask Ted, Lars, and Joe- they will confirm this. Glad you had a great time!
Kenny, it was so great to meet you as well. I’ve always loved your blog and I love this quote…”No talk about divorce, pregnancy, child support, panties, periods or whatever women talk about.” I couldn’t agree more!
And btw, your lace piece is amazing!
Kenny- You really captured the magic of our little men’s knitting retreat. It was *wonderful* to meet you after reading your blog for so long! And your lace piece is stunning! Can’t wait for next year — so sorry not be be going to the west coast retreat in Sept. -John
Don't forget that we talk about boys too
What's going on on the table that has the yarn and the needles and what looks like swatchy goodness?
And you'll need to let me know prior to next year's retreat. I'll gift you some stuff so that you can share
*sigh* Loves men who knit.
