Sin City

by Kenny on October 25, 2007

Hey guys, thank you all for the nice words on my seaming. I guess we are all harsh critics of our own work. Enough about the seaming and let’s talk about my new adventure this weekend.

But before that, I have to tell you all that I fell deathly ill AGAIN this past Sunday. Houston had a sudden temperature drop and I decided it would be nice to go to sleep with the windows opened. Well, guess what? I woke up with a fever.

The fever went on and on and wouldn’t break regardless of the amount of Tylenol I took. I swear I took so much Tylenol that I would rattle when I walk!

Anyways, on Wednesday, I woke with a 103 F temperature and decided that it was time to see the doctor, but my doctor wasn’t available and had to get somewhat better for my adventure! So, he told me to go to the minor ER and that’s what I did. So, guess what? In addition to catching a cold, I caught strep throat too!! They gave me a penicillin shot in my ass and something stronger to break the fever. Well, the fever is receding and now I have a sore ass.

Well, enough about my drama.

But back to my adventure. Here is where I’m going:

Yep, LAS VEGAS!!!!! The City of Sin. Yikes, this place is full of vices that I’m almost afraid to go. But I’m going for work for an entire week. So, I plan to do some sight seeing, shows, meetings, yoga and of course, maybe some yarn shops. However, I doubt that Las Vegas would be very much into knitting. Any of my readers from Vegas?

Anyways, I will update more on my projects. Ironwork is growing….. rather slowly, but it is looking quite nice.

Talk to you all later.

Ugh, sorry to hear about the sickness (and the shot in the ass, for that matter). Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Vegas is a ton of fun, even if you don’t want to partake of any, er, sinning. I’m sure there’s a yarn store somewhere.

there are a few knit stores in Vegas:

Wooly Wonders
3421 East Tropicanna Ave.
Las Vegas NV 89121-7334
702-547-1661

Gail Knits
9012 West Sahara Avenue
Las Vegas NV 89117
(702) 838-7713

I wanted to check them out when I was there last year, just didn’t have the time – let me know how they are :-)

feel better

I can tell you that vegas isn’t known for its yarn shops… desert – hot and the focus is much more on gambling and drinking than it is on creative expression in fiber… you’ll have lots of fun though –

my fav. thing to do in vegas is to walk around about 4-5am on the strip – it’s so quiet – but always buzzing with people doing things… the “crew” trimming trees, changing lightbulbs, sweeping and mopping… it’s amazing to me how it keeps going day after day… lots of work!

I’m way behind on reading blogs because I’ve been spending to much time on Ravelry! A belated congrats on the sweater — it’s adorable and although you find errors (don’t we all, in our own work? I know I do!) you did a great job!

Sorry you were ill again but at least you’re on the mend.

Have a GREAT time in Vegas! I’m not a flashy-lights-and-smoky-rooms kind of girl but it’s worth the trip just because the experience is so unique. Bon voyage!

Las Vegas is prretty at nite but it smells like and ashtray full of cigarretes everywhere. Disgusting, vices only if youlike to gamble and drink, watch out for those sidewalk snappers. YOu will understand once you see them.

Have Fun!

PS Tylenol works on the liver, so be kind to your liver. Take some NAC and Milk Thistle.

Kyle, do you really think that it’s hot in Vegas year-round?
Honey, it’s THE DESERT.
Believe me, it gets bloody cold in the desert. It even snows in the desert.
