The Flood and Do I Have Enough?

by Kenny on October 20, 2006

I’ve always wanted to do this.

As most of you know, Annie’s second home is the Allen Parkway dog park that we visit every single day. Every time when there is a heavy downpour in Houston, that sucker fills up becoming a lake….. literally. I’ve always wanted to take a before and after flooding picture.

So, with the cool help of Photoshop, I’ve managed to somehow roughly put together a panoramic view of the park, before flooding and after.

(Click on them, they are quite large files though.)

NO WATER
LAKE!!

Pretty cool. Look how much water there is!! Look at the bridge that goes over the park, the water is almost up to it!

On the knitting front…..

What in knitting drives you absolutely nuts? For me, it is when you are knitting something like a scarf or a shawl, and there is this debate on “Do I have enough yarn to just try and squeeze in 1 more repeat?” And when I do it, there isn’t enough yarn!!!

Drives me bonkers! I’m all about efficiency. If there is enough yarn for one more repeat, use up all the yarn. What’s the point of having yarn and not use it? So, I’m about to finish the Lace Leaf Shawl and I’m doing the border. Now if I reach the end and there is not enough yarn, I’ve got to rip like 3 weeks worth of work back to the 2nd last repeat and then start the border all over again. I really hope I have enough yarn……. (prays to the knitting Goddesses)

In a couple of days, I’ll let you know what happens.

Oh, and this is Annie right from the groomers.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Beautiful shawl!! Love the color!!
Annie is so darling. She is looking like “what is this thing and why is it on my head???” Sweet girl. Love the nose.

Hi Sweetie!
Thanks for your kind words. I really needed them. As for the shawl, I started thinking the same when I knitted my Clapotis ones and figured that I would use a lifeline before the extra repeat. That way, when I did run out of yarn, or had too much left over, I would pull it back. It is a lot of work, I know, but if you want to use it all up… :)
Btw, I LUV Annie’s picture!

I know..Kenny!! I saw the news about the flood!! It is soo hard on people…really somebody last there home…

I hate that when yarn is enough for last row and i have to buy skine of yarn just for one row!! I guess same as our life and knitting Goddesses make as do this to make people suffer? Don’t you think?

Anyway, She(Annie) is cutie pie!! I love the little bow!!!! MAKE her even more cuter!!

Take care~~ Talk to you in next post!!!
